School History:

San Alberto Magno Academy was founded in 1915 as the Tubao Catholic School with grades K to 6. The high school department was added  and  the name changed to SAMA in _____. At its peak enrollment during 1960 to 1970, the school had three sections per high school year. The school population drastically declined due to numerous public elementary and high schools built and operated in the different barrios of Tubao. Since then it has morphed into the current configuration of the K to 6 being St. Isidore Catholic School operated by the parish, while the high school department is operated by the Diocese of La Union.  Ms. Consuelo Soriano is the principal of the elementary department and acting principal of the high school department till the Diocese fills that position.
Support SAMA:

Due to age and the destruction of the eartquakes of 1990, the old buildings are in dire need of repair. Tuition from the current K to 6 population is barely enough to support the administrative cost of running the elementary department. The survival of the elementary department is vital to the continued existence of the high school department since graduates from the parish school usually move to the SAMA High School.

This website and class 1969 started a fund raising project to assist in building new restrooms. Since the PTA took care of that project, the funds were then made available for minor building repairs and for purchasing library tables.

Other projects the school has identified are:
1. Fix the building housing the library and science laboratory.  The roof, ceiling, walls and sections of the floor need immediate repairs.
2. Obtain new books.
3. Obtain additional laboratory equipment.
4. Build additional classroom desks/chairs.

Recommended Donation Methods:

1.  Pool the funds from the class members and make the donation towards a Class of '## Project. Agree on a project, select a class representative to collect the funds and to coordinate with the school. Progress and completion may be verified by a local class member who can visit the school.  The method provides greater accountability and success of a project.

2. Mail the donation directly to the principal. Include instructions on where to spend your contribution.
